Vioxx Judge Reallocates $315M Counsel Award

Law360, New York (August 10, 2011, 7:23 PM ET) -- The Louisiana federal judge who oversaw a $4.85 billion settlement in the multidistrict litigation against Merck & Co. Inc. over arthritis medication Vioxx reallocated a $315 million award for common benefit counsel Wednesday.

Several law firms had objected to their chunk of the award earlier this year, after a fee applicant committee made final recommendations as to how the award should be allocated to the 108 common benefit firms.
