Stryker Unit Dodges Zimmer's Sanctions Bid

Law360, New York (August 12, 2011, 3:56 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey federal judge on Thursday refused to slap Stryker Corp. subsidiary Howmedica Osteonics Corp. with sanctions in its breach of contract suit alleging rival Zimmer Inc. competed unfairly and violated trade secrets when it poached 14 high-level employees, including the vice president of sales.

Magistrate Judge Patty Shwartz denied Zimmer’s informal motion for sanctions against Howmedica claiming it repeatedly failed to obey the court’s discovery orders. She also dismissed Howmedica’s motion for an additional discovery deadline extension.
