Oracle Asks To Investigate Google Ad Sales

Law360, New York (August 12, 2011, 6:29 PM EDT) -- Oracle America Inc. on Thursday asked a California federal judge for permission to probe Google Inc.'s advertising sales, a bid to increase its potential damages in a suit claiming Google's Android smartphone infringes Oracle patents.

Oracle, which claims the Android infringes patents covering technology in the Java programming language, is trying to prove the Android drives traffic to Google's core business: keyword advertising.
