Pfizer Sues Merck, Schering Unit Over Lipitor Look-Alike

Inc. and Schering-Plough Corp. partnership unit SP Singapore Company LLC in Delaware on Monday, seeking to block the drugmaker's new cholesterol-lowering medication because it allegedly infringes Pfizer's patent for Lipitor.

MSP Singapore filed a new drug application that uses a combination of the cholesterol-lowering medications Ezetimibe and atorvastatin, in violation of Pfizer’s U.S. Patent Number 5,969,156, the suit said.
