Apple Sued Over Software Repair Patent

Law360, New York (August 17, 2011, 7:15 PM ET) -- A patent holding company on Wednesday sued Apple Inc. in Illinois, claiming the tech giant's popular Mac OS X operating system infringes a patent for automatic system repair software.

Software Restore Solutions LLC, a unit of Acacia Research Corp., says Apple deliberately infringed a patent for software that can change a computer system's configuration when it detects errors.

SRS asked the court to order Apple to stop copying SRS' technology and have it pay a royalty, tripled, for its alleged past willful infringement.
