Madoff Trustee, Mets Showdown Could Go Before Jury

Law360, New York (August 19, 2011, 7:42 PM EDT) -- A federal judge on Friday set a trial date for a $1 billion lawsuit brought by the trustee overseeing recovery for Bernard L. Madoff's victims against the owners of the New York Mets, saying the showdown would stay out of bankruptcy court.

U.S. District Judge Jed S. Rakoff opted not to rule on the Mets owners' bid for summary judgment at the hearing, but he signaled that the case could potentially move forward by slating a jury trial for March 5.
