Toughening Up On Syria

Law360, New York (August 24, 2011, 12:00 AM EDT) -- President Barack Obama has issued a new Executive Order (EO), effective as of Aug. 18, 2011, imposing significant new economic sanctions on Syria. This action greatly expands U.S. international trade restrictions against Syria and its government in certain important respects, representing a more comprehensive unilateral economic embargo. Most notably, the sanctions now include the following:
