No Defense For Imperial Under $25M Policy: AGLIC

Law360, New York (August 23, 2011, 2:28 PM ET) -- American Guarantee & Liability Insurance Co. sued Imperial Sugar Co. on Friday, saying it is not obligated under a $25 million excess coverage policy to defend Imperial over a 2008 sugar refinery explosion in Georgia and resulting worker lawsuits.

Imperial Sugar has asserted that AGLIC, part of Zurich Financial Services Group, must defend it once underlying policies are exhausted from the litigation arising from the deadly explosion, but the insurer argues it has no such duty, according to the complaint.
