NY AG Booted From Mortgage Abuse Investigation

Law360, New York (August 24, 2011, 3:18 PM EDT) -- Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller on Tuesday removed his New York counterpart, Eric Schneiderman, from a committee of state prosecutors investigating mortgage abuses, saying he has worked to undermine the group's settlement negotiations.

In recent months, Schneiderman has criticized a proposed settlement between some of the nation's largest banks and the coalition of state and federal officials probing the mortgage industry, saying he opposes giving lenders any broad release from future legal claims.
