Steelers Sue Shirt Maker Over 'Terrible Towel' Knockoff

Law360, New York (August 25, 2011, 10:16 PM EDT) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers LLC and a Pennsylvania nonprofit hit a T-shirt seller with a trademark and unfair competition suit Monday, alleging the company knocked off the football team's famous "Terrible Towels" merchandise with its line of "Terrible T-Shirts."

The Steelers, which hold an exclusive license to market items bearing "Terrible Towel" marks, and the Allegheny Valley School Foundation, which owns the trademark, are challenging Eugene Berry Enterprises LLC's attempt to trademark and sell T-shirts bearing a similar slogan to that of the Steelers' towels.
