Shuttered Drug Co. Recalls Surgical Antiseptics

Law360, New York (August 26, 2011, 4:51 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Friday announced the recall of surgical antiseptic products made by H&P Industries Inc. — whose operations were shut down by the agency in June — because they were not checked for potentially dangerous microbes.

At the request of the FDA, H&P is voluntarily recalling all lots of its povidone-iodine swab sticks, prep solutions, scrub solutions and prep gel. The company made the products with no system in place for microbial testing, testing of incoming components and prevention of contamination...
