Producers Guild Wins Antitrust OK For Credit Reviews

Law360, New York (August 26, 2011, 5:55 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice said Friday that it would not challenge the Producers Guild of America's planned voluntary certification system under federal antitrust laws.

The regulator concluded that the system — which is designed to distinguish between those who serve as full producers for films and others who simply receive generic producer credits in exchange for their services on a movie — would probably not hinder competition for producer services among either producers or film studios.
