Charlotte Russe Sued Over Customer Email Info Requests

Law360, New York (August 29, 2011, 1:39 PM EDT) -- A former customer slapped Charlotte Russe Holding Inc. with a proposed class action in California state court Friday, accusing the women's clothing retailer of requesting and storing the email addresses of customers who made purchases with credit cards.

By collecting email addresses and credit card numbers, the store creates a buying record for customers and compiles mailing lists that can be used to market its products and to sell customers' data to third parties, according to the complaint filed by Los Angeles County resident Irma Orozco....
