Skadden Reps Alpha Bank In Greek Finance Mega-Merger

Law360, New York (August 29, 2011, 8:27 PM EDT) -- Greek stocks rose Monday after two of the country's biggest banks announced plans to merge, a move the financial giants say could help renew confidence and loosen credit as the country's economy struggles to emerge from a massive debt crisis.

The merger of Eurobank EFG and Alpha Bank will produce the largest lender in Greece and a strong player throughout the Balkans, with more than 1,300 branches in eight countries and total assets of $212 billion, according to releases from the companies.
