Energy Bill Approved, Critics Dismayed

Law360, New York (June 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Critics are crying foul after the U.S. House of Representatives Natural Resources Committee passed a bill touted by supporters as striking a balance between energy needs and the harmful effects of climate change, and blasted by detractors as a petty political ploy that will stymie efforts to harvest oil and natural gas in the U.S.

The bill, titled the Energy Policy Reform and Revitalization Act of 2007, was approved by a 26-22 vote.
