US Backs ITC Ruling On Chinese Paper Imports

Law360, Los Angeles (August 31, 2011, 8:17 PM EDT) -- The United States on Wednesday supported a U.S. International Trade Commission ruling that led to countervailing and anti-dumping duties on Chinese and Indonesian imports of coated paper, saying tariffs were necessary to protect the struggling domestic paper market.

The U.S. Court of International Trade is currently considering a lawsuit lodged by Chinese and Indonesian paper makers earlier this year seeking to overturn an ITC determination that the country's paper market was injured by an influx of coated paper imports.
