VA Plagued By Poor Contract Oversight: Report

Law360, New York (September 6, 2011, 2:33 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ largest contracting unit hasn’t properly documented billions of dollars in contracts and suffers from management problems that could prevent it from procuring important services, according to an inspector general report released Friday.

Although its contract development and award actions generally complied with federal regulations, the VA’s National Acquisition Center hasn’t filed required documentation for contracts and has failed to take steps to ensure that contracts were awarded and completed on time, the report said.
