Ex-Primary Global Adviser Deserves 4-Year Sentence: US

Law360, New York (September 8, 2011, 3:30 PM EDT) -- Prosecutors asked a New York federal judge Tuesday to sentence a former Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd. account manager to almost four years in prison for providing hedge funds with inside tips while serving as a consultant with Primary Global Research LLC.

Assistant U.S. Attorney David Leibowitz asked the court for a “stiff sentence” of up to 3 years and 10 months for Manosha Karunatilaka, of Marlborough, Mass., for allegedly providing illegal information to investors between 2007 and late 2010.
