US Open Umpires Sue USTA For Overtime Pay

Law360, New York (September 08, 2011, 9:36 PM ET) -- Four U.S. Open umpires filed a putative class action Thursday in New York claiming the U.S. Tennis Association misclassifies them as independent contractors and that they are due unpaid overtime pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Steven Meyer, Marc Bell, Larry Mulligan-Gibbs and Aimee Johnson claim the USTA regularly requires them to work long days and more than 40 hours per week without overtime compensation.
