Ex-Primary Global Adviser Seeks 12-Month Sentence

Law360, New York (September 9, 2011, 5:49 PM EDT) -- A former consultant with Primary Global Research on Friday asked a New York federal judge to sentence him to six months in prison and six months' home detainment for providing inside tips on his semiconductor company to hedge funds.

Manosha Karunatilaka, who was an account manager for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Ltd., said he deserves a relatively lenient sentence because he admitted to his crimes and cooperated with prosecutors. Also, he was not the mastermind of the scheme and reaped little benefit from it.
