EU Says Members Must Boost Child Protections Online

Law360, Chicago (September 13, 2011, 6:18 PM EDT) -- European Union member states are not doing enough to protect minors using the Internet and video games, the European Commission said Tuesday.

The commission issued its conclusion in a report analyzing the implementation of the EU's 1998 and 2006 recommendations on the protection of children using audiovisual and online services.

While member states and industry players are increasingly making efforts to adopt those recommendations, the measures taken have been insufficient overall and inconsistent between countries, the EC said.
