'Ragtime' Producers' Fraud Convictions Upheld

Law360, New York (September 14, 2011, 1:16 PM EDT) -- An appeals court in Ontario, Canada, on Tuesday upheld the convictions of former Broadway producer Garth Drabinsky and his business partner on charges of defrauding shareholders in their production company of $470 million.

Drabinsky and Myron Gottlieb were sentenced in August 2009 to prison terms of seven and six years, respectively, for the fraud on shareholders in Live Entertainment Corp. of Canada Inc., or Livent. In upholding the convictions, the court reduced each sentence by two years.
