US Mulls Extending Softwood Lumber Deal With Canada

Law360, San Diego (September 15, 2011, 6:52 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Trade Representative said Thursday it is seeking comments as it reviews whether to extend the U.S.’ softwood lumber agreement with Canada to October 2015.

The agreement, which is set to expire in October 2013, was struck in 2006 to resolve litigation in the U.S. and abroad, bringing an end to anti-dumping and countervailing duty orders on softwood lumber from Canada.

The USTR said any comments from interested parties on the possible two-year extension of the agreement should be submitted within 30 days.
