2nd Circ. Affirms Conviction Over Film Co. Securities

Law360, New York (September 16, 2011, 5:23 PM EDT) -- The Second Circuit on Friday upheld a securities sales agent's fraud convictions over the marketing of two private-placement offerings in film production companies, saying the trial court didn't wrongly admit evidence in his two jury trials.

The appeals court disagreed with William A. Newsom's contention that he was deprived of his constitutional right to a fair trial in the two underlying securities fraud cases because the judge allowed evidence of the other case into each trial.
