Foot-And-Mouth Outbreak Halts Paraguay Beef Exports

Law360, New York (September 19, 2011, 5:49 PM EDT) -- Health officials in Paraguay on Monday ordered the slaughter of hundreds of animals and halted beef exports until at least November after 13 confirmed cases of foot-and-mouth disease.

The country's animal health organization suspended all beef exports and declared a sanitary emergency for a central region where 13 cattle tested positive for the disease over the weekend.
