AMD Pushes For Stay In GPU Patent Case

Law360, New York (June 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Pointing out that the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office had already rejected 90% of the claims in a patent case brought by chip-maker MicroUnity Systems Engineering Inc., Advanced Micro Devices Inc. on Monday defended its reasons for requesting that the litigation be stayed.

The suit, filed by MicroUnity in November 2006, accused graphics processing unit (GPU) maker AMD of infringing on 12 patents relating to various semiconductor processing systems. MicroUnity had filed a similar suit against Intel in 2004 and Sony Computer Entertainment America in 2005....
