Judge Merges Spam Suits Over Google Group Texts

Law360, New York (September 22, 2011, 6:28 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Thursday consolidated two proposed class actions against Google Inc. and its partner in a group text messaging service that consumers claim illegally spams consumers.

The plaintiffs allege the group texting service run by Google and Slide Inc., called Disco, is nothing more than a spam operation. They say the service violates the Telephone Consumer Protection Act by sending unsolicited, en masse text messages.
