Judge OKs $2.7M Deal To End Rent-A-Center Wage Action

Law360, Los Angeles (September 23, 2011, 2:53 PM EDT) -- A California judge on Friday signed off on a $2.7 million deal between Rent-A-Center Inc. and a class of 2,600 store managers who said the rent-to-own giant misclassified them as exempt from the state's overtime wage laws.

Judge Maureen Duffy-Louis granted final approval of the settlement, which disposes the managers' claims that Rent-A-Center ran afoul of California labor law by not paying class members overtime wages or business expenses, and denying its managers meal and rest periods.
