Mergers and acquisitions deal value in the second quarter of 2011 saw a 74-percent uptick over the prior quarter, with US$51.2 billion in announced transactions.[1] There were 280 announced transactions in the second quarter of 2011, representing a 19-percent increase over the first quarter.[2]
