Law360, San Diego (September 27, 2011, 7:27 PM ET) -- Pfizer Inc. said Tuesday it had launched a suit in Russia against Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., seeking to stop the defendant from promoting and distributing a generic version of erectile dysfunction drug Viagra in the country.
The New York-based drug giant alleges that Teva and affiliate Pliva Hrvatska infringe its Viagra patent by importing sildenafil in oral medication and by marketing and selling it in the Russian market.
Pfizer’s patent-in-suit, Patent Number 2373938, covers “Pyrazolopyrimidines for impotence treatment” and is valid until May 2014.
