DOD Reopens Comments On One-Bid Contracting Rule

Law360, New York (September 27, 2011, 5:38 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Defense said Tuesday that it would allow additional comments on a proposed rule that would require contracting officers to resubmit some contracts for competition if only one bid is received, after a watchdog group criticized the rule for not going far enough.

The rule, announced in July, would amend the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement in an effort to prevent contract competitions from turning into de facto no-bid contracts, according to the DOD.
