Law360, New York (September 28, 2011, 7:50 PM ET) -- Mega Brands America Inc. announced Tuesday that it had agreed to refund consumers for recalled toys that contained allegedly harmful magnets, resolving a putative product liability class action in New Jersey federal court.
U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton gave preliminary approval Aug. 17 to the proposed opt-out settlement, which provided relief for a nationwide class of consumers who have purchased, possessed or acquired Mega Brands' Magnetix and other recalled magnet toys since September 2003, according to the company.
