Apple Backs AMD's IP Ownership Challenge In ITC Probe

Law360, New York (September 29, 2011, 7:23 PM ET) -- Apple Inc. on Wednesday asked the U.S. International Trade Commission to drop a probe based on S3 Graphics Co. Ltd.'s patent infringement claims, saying semiconductor maker Advanced Micro Devices Inc.'s assertions that it owns the patents-in-suit leaves S3 with no standing.

In a motion to terminate the probe, Apple argues that new evidence introduced by AMD about the ownership of the two patents casts doubt on S3’s claims to the intellectual property and the ITC's jurisdiction.
