Most Of Northrop's Katrina Insurance Claims Scrapped

Law360, New York (September 30, 2011, 4:33 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Wednesday tossed seven of Northrop Grumman Corp.'s eight remaining claims against Factory Mutual Insurance Co. over nearly $1 billion in damage caused by Hurricane Katrina.

U.S. District Judge Dean D. Pregerson granted Factory's motion for partial summary judgment, finding that Northrop's claims of tortious breach of the covenant of good faith, misrepresentation and reformation could not stand. A breach of contract claim still stands in the case, first filed in December 2005.
