Glenmark Can't Nix Abbott's $16M Win Over Tarka Patent

Law360, New York (September 30, 2011, 6:40 PM ET) -- A New Jersey federal judge on Friday rejected efforts by generic-drug maker Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd. to overturn a jury’s $16 million judgment against it for allegedly infringing a patent licensed exclusively to Abbott Laboratories for the blood pressure drug Tarka.

A federal jury handed Abbott the victory in January, after the Chicago-based pharmaceutical company sued Glenmark over a generic version of Tarka, which is covered by a Sanofi-Aventis Deutschland GmbH-owned patent that is licensed exclusively to Abbott.
