US Should Fund Shale Gas Regulation Reviews, R&D: Panel

Law360, New York (October 4, 2011, 4:44 PM EDT) -- The federal government should fund reviews of regulations on hydraulic fracturing and other shale gas extraction operations, as well as research and development for new, environmentally safe gas exploration technologies, an expert panel told a U.S. Senate committee Tuesday.

Federal investment in regulation and R&D for the booming natural gas industry would help companies tap into potentially massive shale gas deposits and bring in revenue on the local, state and federal level, members of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Secretary of Energy Advisory Board said....
