Korean Network's 'Degree Factory' Claim Not Libel: Court

Law360, New York (October 6, 2011, 1:09 PM EDT) -- The Korean Broadcasting System did not libel Yuin University, an unaccredited school based in Compton, Calif., when it aired a report calling Yuin a "suspected degree factory," a California state appeals court ruled Wednesday.

The Court of Appeal of the State of California, Second Appellate District, affirmed a lower court's finding that the report by KBS was not defamatory and was protected by the First Amendment.
