Ford, 18 Others Slapped With GPS Patent Suits

Law360, New York (October 12, 2011, 7:59 PM ET) -- Beacon Navigation GmbH on Tuesday filed a slew of lawsuits accusing 19 automakers including Ford Motor Co., General Motors Co. and Volvo Car Corp., of infringing several of its GPS patents.

In 38 separate suits filed in Delaware federal court, Beacon alleged the automakers had each directly and indirectly violated up to eight of its patents by incorporating its navigation technology into their GPSs.
