Law360, Los Angeles (October 12, 2011, 5:33 PM ET) -- A California judge on Wednesday refused to grant Millennium Films' request to have an arbitrator decide a contract dispute with Freedom Films LLC, which claims it's owed a percentage of gross profits from the action movie “The Mechanic” starring Jason Statham.
California Superior Court Judge Mary Strobel said there was no arbitration clause between Freedom Films and defendants Millennium, Scared Productions Inc. and Scared Productions LLC arising under an agreement between the parties that was allegedly incorporated into a 2009 contract to distribute the film....
