Unilever Takes Control Of Russian Cosmetics Co. For $541M

Law360, New York (October 14, 2011, 12:19 PM EDT) -- European consumer goods giant Unilever PLC said Friday it had agreed to acquire a controlling interest in Russian cosmetics company OAO Concern Kalina for about $541 million.

Unilever, looking to capitalize on emerging markets outside of those areas most impacted by Europe's looming debt crisis, will buy 82 percent of Kalina in a deal that values the skin care brand at $694 million. The company will pay about 4.09 rubles (13 cents) per share for Kalina.
