Schlumberger Wins Arbitration Bid In Baker Hughes IP Row

Law360, New York (October 14, 2011, 7:46 PM EDT) -- A Texas appeals court on Thursday sided with Schlumberger Technology Corp. in its dispute with Baker Hughes Inc. over the proper forum for arbitrating their fight regarding patents related to sensor tools used in oil well samples.

A three-judge panel of the Texas Court of Appeals remanded the case to the lower court, asking it to allow Schlumberger's motion to arbitrate before a American Arbitration Association panel despite Baker Hughes's argument that certain issues should be returned to a previous venue.
