JPML Won't Join Avalon Suit To Toyota Acceleration MDL

Law360, New York (October 17, 2011, 3:58 PM ET) -- The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation on Friday affirmed its decision to exclude a Kentucky suit alleging defects in Toyota Motor Corp.'s Avalon vehicle from an MDL in California over sudden unintended acceleration problems with Toyota’s cars.

Due to amended pleadings and further discovery, the MDL's main focus centers on allegations of a defective electronic throttle control system in certain Toyota vehicles that allegedly caused unintended acceleration, according to the JPML.
