Suit Says G4 Texts Infringe Mobile Alert Patents

Law360, New York (October 19, 2011, 4:57 PM EDT) -- Patent-holding company Helferich Patent Licensing LLC sued G4 Media LLC in Illinois federal court Tuesday, accusing the video game-focused television network of infringing three patents for mobile alert technology through its use of text messages.

G4, a majority-owned subsidiary of NBC Universal, has refused to seek a license to use HPL's technology and has repeatedly infringed the company's patents by sending text message alerts with embedded content to its viewers, according to HPL.
