EU Says Protectionism Is Rife Across G-20

Law360, New York (October 19, 2011, 2:53 PM EDT) -- Protectionist trade barriers are increasing in many G-20 member nations, threatening the pace of the global economic recovery, the European Commission reported on Wednesday.

In a monitoring report on the status of protectionism among G-20 members, the executive arm of the European Union found little progress toward free trade over the past year, despite repeated commitments made by members at various summits since 2008 not to resort to restrictive trade measures.
