Law360, New York (October 19, 2011, 6:28 PM ET) -- Iowa plaintiffs on Tuesday asked a federal court to sign off on $18.5 million in settlements resolving an antitrust class action against five ready-mix concrete manufacturers and three executives who pled guilty to price-fixing in parallel criminal proceedings.
The plaintiffs — Iowa buyers of ready-mix concrete — said that despite an aggressive defense by eight corporate and individual defendants, they have successfully hammered out three settlements providing a combined $18.5 million in settlement funds, "well in excess" of the estimated overcharges.
