Stair Parts Co. Fights Customs' Call On Baluster Tariffs

Law360, New York (October 20, 2011, 9:11 PM EDT) -- Houston-based House of Forgings Inc. on Thursday contested the U.S. Customs and Border Protection's decision denying the company's challenge to the classification of certain imported iron and steel balusters and other balustrade parts.

House of Forging's complaint against the U.S. said the goods were classified as "other articles of steel" under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the U.S., which imposed a 2.9 percent tariff, while the company contended they should have been classified under a more specific category that had no tariff.
