Law360, New York (October 21, 2011, 5:49 PM ET) -- The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has fined GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy $45,000 for security violations at a North Carolina facility that is testing the use of lasers to enrich uranium, according to documents obtained by Law360 on Friday.
GE-Hitachi's Global Laser Enrichment unit uncovered the security plan violations — which related to a contractor's employee and not the company itself — and paid the fine earlier this month, the company said Friday.
