Law360, New York (October 21, 2011, 8:07 PM ET) -- A Missouri federal judge on Friday struck down several Bayer AG defenses in four cases brought as part of multidistrict litigation over the company's genetically modified rice, which contaminated U.S. crops, but also dismissed several of the plaintiffs' claims.
Bayer has been battling lawsuits since the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced in 2006 that a strain of the company's genetically modified rice, known as Liberty Link Rice 601, had contaminated the U.S. long-grain rice supply.
