House Scrutinizes Policy To Revamp Ocean Management

Law360, New York (October 26, 2011, 3:07 PM EDT) -- The head of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on Wednesday assured a U.S. House of Representatives panel that a policy to coordinate oversight of ocean activities including energy projects would not create new regulations, despite Republicans' outry that it would hurt industry.

The House Committee on Natural Resources grilled NOAA Administrator Jane Lubchenco and National Ocean Council Co-Chair Nancy Sutley on an Obama administration policy that seeks to streamline ocean management activities of federal agencies as well as states and tribes.
