Madden, Balenciaga Settle Fight Over High-Heel Design

Law360, New York (October 24, 2011, 3:07 PM ET) -- Shoe designers Balenciaga Corp. and Steve Madden Ltd. on Monday resolved a suit in New York alleging that Steve Madden copied the design for Balenciaga's high-end “Lego” high heels.

U.S. District Judge John Gleeson on Monday approved a stipulation for dismissal filed on Friday that announced the shoe companies had reached a negotiated settlement in the trade dress dispute, in which the Parisian fashion house accused Steve Madden of selling a set of pumps based on the Lego design.
